So, if you are threatened by an attorney to have your child taken away in Marion County, Tennessee or have heard a lawyer say something like: “Jay had a judge take a child away just last week” you probably came across the path of Melissa Thomas Blevins of Blevins & Blevins in Jasper, Tennessee. Her confidence of manipulating parents in divorce proceedings to cooperate in her clients favor stem from the fact that her husband is the Juvenile Judge of Jasper, Tennessee. If it is legal to threaten and coerce a parent into agreeing to any MDA or parental agreement by threatening to simply have her husband take away their child, look out citizens of Marion County! She has an unethical approach to Tennessee law at best and her staff has committed perjury to aid at least one known client in an attempt to gain leniency from the court.

An opposing party while pro se during at least one hearing before Judge Curtis Smith in 2013, spoke up to address a representative of Blevins & Blevins providing a falsified status of a DHS state case against their client and then continued to request leniency from the judge. Before court began the representative of Blevins & Blevins attended a private discussion with Cindy Bice in the adjoining room and had to be retrieved by a court official that Judge Curtis Smith was asking for Bice’s presence to hear her withdrawal from the case after being turned into the BOPR by her client. The courtroom was open and filled with a variety of public witnesses to the account. According to the opposing party, there was a state hearing by phone scheduled for the following day and the state office was contacted to verify the status was open. Also, the state nor Melissa Blevins  was present during this particular hearing.

Jay Blevins is a part owner in Blevins & Blevins on the courthouse square in Jasper, Tennessee.
